I Have Learned a Lot

my new area is pretty great!

Elder Cook is fantastic! he is obedient as what! and is a real help on keeping me focused. he is from colorado So he likes mountains, and he is a track / cross country man so he likes to run! Fernando (my stomach ) is slowly fading away! this way christie wont be able to call me the Himalayas when i get home :) haha so its great!

New Amsterdam is like the town of berbice! it is not terrible big but there are some taller buildings! there are like 4 Big buildings being built right now! but this is guyana so they will probably finish in 2019 haha

But its a pretty cool area! plus its close to canje so things are good! IT was really nice on sunday we went to canje chapel for a self reliance and other ting graduation and the canje members were glad to see me. But what was cool was brother Phagwah called me over and pointed out a lady from new amsterdam and said "i told her she is getting one of the best missionaries in new amsterdam.. So be the best missionary" haha i love brother Phagwah! i am sad i didnt start visiting the family more regular when i was here for so long! they are great!

But About new amsterdam! we have a cool Branch president , he is a funny and great guy. HE told us recently his temple story, when he and his family got sealed.   and he has now been sealed for over 6-7 years. They have a kid born in the covenant! super cool!!

Any ways i like it here ! people are nice and the area is going fast! The only problem is we are finding really cool people and we have no time to teach them! we already have so many prepared people! it is fantastic!!

WEll This sunday i also got to give a talk! it was a lot of fun! i spoke on attitude! it was great!
I Think i have learned a lot from my mission , im not sure if i have changed from who i used to be. ITs been a slow gradual process! i guess i will have to rely on what my loving mother says when she see's me!  but there are always still changes to make so i will keep working!

But all is well here! i am still working hard! doing my best!
Tell Grandma and Grandpa that i love them!
Thanks momma!

Last Transfer

Yes all is very well for me!

i am going to new amsterdam to finish off a missionaries training! so my daughter gets to kill two missionaries for his first two transfers!! haha sad.

But yeah i am going to miss canje bad!!
When sunday came around, only two families knew. The bahadurs and the moses, the branch president! so sunday i got to speak and i spoke of the importance of keeping the commandments and also sacrament IT was good. when president moses announced i was getting transfered, like half of the congregation turned around in surprisse! it was kinda funny haha
But i will miss people plenty here

Jamacie is cool! Reminds me of lindsey and christie sometimes!!  kinda cool! the whole bahadur family is just amazing!
I love them all!

and yeah i am finishing a missionaries training! Elder Cook is my new companion! and Elder day is staying with an elder Horsely! so i am no longer a zone leader! :) no more doing reports! yay :) now i gotta focus on training this new one right! :)
Yay twelve week training program!

We havent seen "OJ" back sadly! and he didn't come to church! something must be wrong! we will figure it our tomorrow night!

And oh we recently got in contact with a referral named the "IN" family! and boy are they awesome! a family from new amsterdam gave them to us and ahh they are cool i am sad i don't get to teach them all the way their baptisms!!!

Oh for my homecoming talk you should find out if i can pick my topic! i kinda want to speak on the importance of a cheerful or good attitude! :)

ANd now we no longer work in rosignol! there is elder patatefa going there! ( he is in my group)
so it should be great working around him!!!
ANd she will probably get a new one when he goes and meets them back!!

I am going to a new apartment so i no longer need to worry about prepaid current! but the black outs have still been happening! at least two to three a week!
yay!
But all is well in guyana! no problems for me!

I love Guyana! i never want to leave! so all yall better come here to live cause i need my family ! :)

Love You tons!

It's August!

Guyana has been freezing cold (28degrees) and then burning hot (36degrees) off and on cause of the rain storms that come!
But all is well haha

This week was a pretty good week! We unfortunately didn't get the baptism in rosignol. we called she and she cancelled just before they went for she interview! :( sad but we will find out why and get her a new date! she even came to church still Sunday in rosignol!

But exciting things that happened in canje this week.. hmmm well Object lessons for the week were cornstarch and water teaching the principle of faith needs works to stay strong and then we had a pepper filled water with the spirit being soap of ya finga  when you go in the water without soap you get dirty, with soap the pepper (sin and temptation) runs away! Try it if ya never have. put liquid soap on your finger and dipp it in pepper water! :)

But we got a referral this week that has been fun to teach. and for the first time in a couple weeks we were able to get someone who is investigating to come to church in canje! :)

Best lesson of the week was with a guy named "OJ"! he was a referral from some of the coolest members. the Khans! but yeah we taught him a couple days ago and he really finally understood what it means to repent and how we need to our whole lives and the role the sacrament plays in that!
It was fantastic!

But lets see we have had many many blackouts this week and it sucked but with the lack of power! we have been
good! no problems Really.

Gotta go!

Object Lessons

Let me see what wonderful tales i can spin for you today..

Well i have not seen  investi- gator " , but i did however see a dead gator on the side of the road! it had its tail cut off and i saw aguy chopping its head with a cutlass! :)

Also another anaconda was caught near our house by the drunk people and they spent the next 30 mins looking for us so they could sell it to us haha i guess thats what happens when you are willing to pay 2 times how much they would usually sell it for  the last time!

But aside from that!

WE had no investigators come in canje but it rained an unreasonable amout on sunday morning!  which was interesting because we had the most attendance of all in berbice with a pretty high 50

we had a few in rosignol i believe. but we have a baptism this Saturday in rosignol ! so hope things will pick up there again.

Transfer is coming close to and end and i am nervous they might move me out of canje cause president told us there is a good chance both zone leaders here will be split and training next transfer... SO i have been here forever! who knows!

We met some really cool new people to teach! we actrually got 12 new investigators! so it is awesome!

We are working hard  and i havent done anything too ridiculous this week... Oh wait kind of have ...  me and elder day have been tying up members with rope as part of an object lesson and playing the flour game on occasional fhe's and playing with corn starch and water with a lot of people to teach about faith and works! it has been great!

IT is a lot of fun in this branch i am excited to bring yall here to show you everyone !

Love you tons tho!

Hunting Jaguars

Well even just today has been full of adventure. Last night we were at the bahadurs house and we told them we are going to start running and they didnt believe us so in the morning we ran to their house and got there at like 6:45 haha so sister bahadur gave us some fruit and every kid who tiredly walked out of their room to wake up was startled awake to see us haha. but while we were there we played a game of chinese checkers and while playing i guess siter bahadur called the radio. and here you can wish people well on the radio you just call and deliver you message to the people and they read it! anyways While we were sitting there we heard she had wished well to all her kids and then at the end She also wished a "SPecial goodmorning to the two Best missionaries, Elder Pierson and Elder Day" haha i love that family so much! they are fun as what!
But this week was good!

We also moved ourselves into the new apartment and it is so nice! :)

but this sunday we split Elder day went across the river to rosignol with Bro pooran and i stayed with jared Bahadur and went to canje!
No investigators in canje :( but 4 in rosignol!

This week was a lot of fun!

Highlight for the week was probably finding a brother to a l.a who wants to get baptized.   His name is "NN".    Right now his reasons arent so good, he wants to get baptized because he wants to join pathway! a church program which requires being a member!
but he is pretty cool So he will gain a testimony
I am Excited for him he is a pretty wonderful Guy so it will be fun to teach him!

Anyways i guess i am overtime !
You rock!

P.s the missionaries in  new amsterdam called me this morning to inform they could not study today because there were people hunting a jaguar on the road in front of their house! :0 awesome!

Running My Shoes to the Ground

There was two baptisms saturday gone! one in the rose hall area and one in new amsterdam! go zone! just now we will have one!

for "ZR" it really kind of brakes my heart. she is doing good but he changed from binge drinking every two weeks to drinking light every two or three days.. :( he will take some time to overcome and put priorities straight! but i am really hoping they succeed with the marriage papers. because once they are married she can get baptized. and he will come with time!

but this week we actually did not go to church. in canje branch anyways. since there is a shortage of missionaries there is none in an area called rosignol. now me and elder day have been working it once a week to keep it going . and the members are fantastic! we showed up to church and they were ecstatic to see us and greeted us with the news that they have 3 people who want to be baptized who came to church. and they came seeking advice or permission to do all the teaching themselves and have us come and do an overview to make sure they understand! so no investigators came in canje but we had 3 in rosignol

So we are seeing good work all around the board!

Im running my shoes to the ground haha but i still have an inch or so on my ecco's :)
its fun!
dont send more!

We get to meet our mission president soon! in person! i am excited!

Anyways i gotta go!

20 Years Old

I loved that video So much! Mahindra and preya were raving all the time about how cute lydia and Brigham are! haha and i couldn't help but agree with them!

but hey this week was crazy we went all over the place. There is one area in our zone that is blank that should not be blank so me and elder day took saturday to go and work it for one day! it was pretty good week.

But oh man i gotta say my birthday was an awesome day! the members here are soooooo amazing! mahindra not only got the video  from you but made 2 from my facebook photos and ting ! it was awesome!

in church i was tempted ridiculously because i got plenty candy haha. One investigator when she heard it was my birthday ran upstairs and grabbed a bracelet with pictures of baby Jesus , Mary and   i think the pope and gave it to me haha.

And then the bahadurs baked me a full cake with a on   it ! and 20 candles wow i think we were going to set off the smoke detector@ haha

People in Guyana are soooo nice! i honestly cant wait to bring you by all of them! they are awesome!! you will love them for sure!

Regan is married? woah! cool! that is exciting!
tell him i say congrats! <3

It has been a good week so far! we found some really cool new people! i really enjoy serving in canje area!

all is well here with me! i am excited to see hayden and jack and well everybody!

But i love you so much!
gotta go!

Demon Gator

haha mother mother its not the snakes you should be worried about for me! this past week we had no such car because we lent it away! but anyways ( this is more important than my transfer call.) we were taking a short cut to a Members house and keep in mind its the rainy season, (may/june) and we get to a sport where there is just like a little river there that wasn't there the first time i took the short cut. So i couldn't go around for that would take 30 mins walking and we were already late. . . so we took off our shoes and rolled up our pant legs and walked through the nasty water. anyways before we did this we heard a splash and some alligator noises so we thought hey there's a caman in there. no problem anyways we get through and the people living there are gaffing with us and we tell them there was an alligator back there. and the guy says yeah we know he is about 6-7 feet long . haha sooooooo i still have all my toes.. oh and by the way the man says the gator is a demon cause of a satan church near by and no one can catch it. but he is nice. like he will walk that same track at 2 am and see the gator on the side and tell him " hey i'm coming though" and the gator lets him! but fun story from elder Pierson! :)

So now what you really wanted to know! i am actually staying in canje ! Elder ort will be heading to suriname. his visa finally came through! but i will be serving with Elder Day for the next 8 weeks and then i have no clue because Elder day and me go home at the same time and usually They dont like to blank zone leaders!
So it will be interesting! but this will make 6 months in canje! so that is pretty cool!

so the picture with all them pickney and youts. we actually met that family maybe on Friday and they came on Sunday! so they are really cool! we are really focusing on 2 people, the aunt and the mother! but all the kids coming was an added blessing! except for they were rowdy as what! but hey its all good!

This week was awesome tho! we got fed so much! people saying bye  to Elder ort and also for fathers day! it was crazy!
I love the people here! i will definitely come back to see them!

Kites and the Atonement

This week was a very interesting week! we had quite a few cool things and fun activities.

First of all i cannot find my camera cord so that is why i am lacking on the photo uploading!

but we bought an 8 foot Tall kite that we are going to fly for Easter! flying kites in the Caribbean during Easter is a huge thing, i cannot remember it being a thing to do back home.
But it is amazing to see the symbolism in why they really do fly kites at this time of the year. to remember that "He is Risen" such a cool thought !
But its Fun. It seems like everywhere i go now a days the Atonement gets brought up.
Either its at Zone Conference or a random meeting with President Mehr or just in teaching people!
The Atonement is real and is an amazing Blessing!

I Actually have learned a lot about the Atonement and one of the coolest experience i have had recently is when we went to visit a less active person. We actually had a fall through in our plans while we took out 2 members so we went to visit an inactive family. And while we were talking about the atonement i felt like i needed to share that sometimes it is really hard to talk to people about our problems, because often people we talk to will try to console us but in reality they don't know what we are feeling or what our pains our like..But the beautiful miracle of the Atonement is that Jesus Christ Knows exactly how each situation feels and exactly our pains. And i could tell they really liked that.
Yesterday at church that  same lady Got up and bore her testimony about how recently she had been going through a lot of trials and how she felt nobody would understand, but the missionaries came over and taught her about the atonement and how she is so blessed to know that Christ knows. she is Great! anyways that was a lot of fun!
But today so far was interesting ! We had President Mehr here and he taught a little bit but he came for interviews, so surprise i kind of know my transfer call all ready.
I am going to stay in canje as a Zone leader but i am going to have either a Temp or a next missionary.
and the Other Zone leader will be in Rosignol Area with either a Temp  or a regular missionary.. So Whew its going to be interesting!
But Yes "ZR" and their two future missionary sons.
They are Great! we had been talking to members about them and they were taught before and the problem before was he was not interested in marriage but we went over this week and he actually brought marriage up and started talking all sort of plans  to get married! sooo!! Whoo!
They are awesome! They are planning on getting married on the second of May!

All is going well in this area! things are really picking up!

I Love Being a missionary!

A Few New Investigators

Well its wonderful to hear of all the events of home!
so much happens when i look away!
That is crazy to think Clarke is almost done right now!
But hey yes this week was a lot slower and better for working! the only thing that kept us from once again having a full work week was that we had Zone conference Which i was actually asked to conduct! so i conducted the Zone conference with Elder Cornish There .. So the President of the whole Carribean Area got to see me all nervously conducting my second ever meeting haha. but it was good! we learned so much from him and we are working hard to implement what we learned!

highlight of the week was we had an investigator who we met last week named "YA" come to church this Sunday! She is awesome! She is 17 and eager to change her life. She actually told us in the first meeting that she had thought about baptism before with all her friends but figured that she didnt want to promise God That she would be Good when she knew she might break her Promise. But yesterday we went to meet her and finished teaching her about the Restoration. and a the end of the lesson i was starting to talk to her about baptism. and i asked her about her situation before how she didn't want to make that promise with God then, and before i could even ask her how she felt about it now she said "I know what you Going to say, and yes i am ready to be baptized now" SOOO she is cool ! she will get baptized in April! a lot of interesting things have really happened lately!

Anyways! We finally Got a Directory from the branch, it took so long because we dont have a computer in the branch.. it getting repaired for over a month now !! :0
But yes things are going great! we have some wonderful plans for our work! and we are starting to see a lot of success!
Another Highlight of the week was When we went so teach a family known as "ZR" Now they were taught by missionaries before, actually the two years ago when they met with missionaries is actually why "ZR" is Christian instead of Muslim now.  But they are soo cool! they have two sons aged 6 and 8! soo definitely some future missionaries!  and we commited them to doing a nightly family prayer and family reading! And they did it and they described the feeling of the holy Ghost When we asked them how they felt!  now our intent on having them do this was to help them Strengthen their relationship and its working! they are alot happier.    and come wednesday we are going to discus a baptismal date for them as well!
So we are happy for them too!

Something cool that we learned lately is that when people go through spiritual experiences together they grow closer together! So that is why it is so important to have members with missionaries or have members baptize people! so they will grow to the members as well as the missionaries!
Its really fun being in this canje Area!
I will continue to keep you updated on all our happenings!
But i got to Go!

Crazy Week

This week has been sooo crazy! we have been able to get little to no work done in our area.. well at least i was.
i think i taught a grand total of 3 or 4 lessons in my area this week! :0
crazy stuff happened and a missionary had to be sent to trinidad. and since we are the zone leaders and have a car we had to drive him down to georgetown at 6:30 or 7 in the evening so he could catch a flight in the morning! now its a 1 1/2 hour or 2 hour drive  (depending on if you drive the speed limit. so we got back home by about 10:30 in the night. anyways all the crazyness happened on our workdays (we were splitting days between canje and new amsterdam area) but now that we were another missionary short we fixed the missing temp problem so now we are finally back to work in our area!

The reason i lost so much time in my area was also because I went so skeldon on saturday and then drove from rose hall again there on sunday to attend church.
so when i got to church i got to give an impromptu talk. so i decided to speak on scripture study and i thought it was good. it was a lot of fun!!
But im excited all the crazyness has slowed down. im exhausted haha. but its all good!

This week has been crazy but i would say from it i learned very strongly that God Does answer prayers! and Grants unto us our Righteous Desires!

oh i also went cast net fishing this week haha it was fun!and sorry i forgot my camera so i will do the photos next week!! :) Sorry!

Anyways i love you a lot!

Covering Three Branches

this week has been a pretty interesting week. im not sure if i told you this last week but the New Amsterdam area only has one missionary and his temp has not yet come or been found! soo he has been with us for the last 3 weeks haha. i sure hope i told you since its been that way for 3 weeks! it hs been a lot of fun to have him around! he adds a whole new aspect to our teaching together!

soo friday gone was a holiday called phagwah. which is a hindu holiday which actually color me rad was based off of i believe. its a color festival. it has some interesting background! and now the cool thing is like half the people in berbice are hindu.. and in skeldon its like 75-80% sooooo they play phagwah very much over here!. basically you just walk around all day talking to people and they smear colorful powder all over you! soo needless to say is that we had a fun time.. it was a lot of fun i actually went up to skeldon on friday to teach and got pretty colorful.    the elders who stayed here didnt have a car and were visiting people to get colored so they were way worse but it was an interesting holiday to work on. . . Ive got a nice souvenir shirt. Skeldon is awesome though! we met with brother sancho's Soon to be wife and she is really cool. during the lesson we actually found out missionaries had visited her before and she wasnt baptized because she "wasnt ready to join the Faith" so we asked her "what about now?" and she said she is ready! so after they are married she will get baptized shortly after! Super Exciting! oh and (subject change) Hindus are really nice they will always feed you! its part of their religion.. soooo we ate a ton on phagwah day! so much vermicelli and sweet rice ! so good!
Its hard to get a ton of work done in  this area  because we rotate days in canje and new amsterdam! soo we go back and forth days and only get to cover our areas half the time!
For me it is really interesting because i am covering 3 branches ! Canje, New amsterdam, and Skeldon. I actually didnt even get to go to canje church on sunday. i went with Elder Clark to new amsterdam so i didnt even get to see my branch! and the sad thing is i wont be there next week either! we have done some forward planning and actually planned an overnight skeldon Trip with me and Elder Aukusitino saturday coming. So i Will Be in Skeldon branch On sunday! ahh! i can only imagine what traveling high Councillors feel like!
Anyways all is well! its been really amazing to see what has been taking place over here in the area of berbice Guyana! there is talk about a District! we have set that as the goal and the church is slowly but surely working towards that Goal!
But that is so amazing to know of all the temple attendance! its interesting how when a temple is so close we kind of take it for granted. and down here people long and wish they could attend regularly. its interesting to talk to people who have a temple trip planned like 8 months in advance and when i think about it, any given day i could just decide to go to the temple when i am at home! one thing i love is every temple on the earth weakens the power of satan!

This last week i have been thinking about the spirit in our lives. the question that always comes to mind is , do i heed all the spirits calls? i dont think i do at this point, but i could imagine what would happen if i did!  i always meet people who i would call "spiritual Giants" and its interesting to think at one point they still started as a spiritual baby.  over time trial success with the spirit they become who they are!
The struggle to perfect ourselves is an interesting one!
Gotta love it!

its really great to hear about all that is hapening back home! return missionaries are really the way to growth! i think here in Guyana i have devoted myself to trying to get  more  missionaries  to serve out of these branches! they really need it!
But to hear how much the church is growing and to think of all my friends who will be returning from missions just now! i cannot imagine how fast wards (i almost put branches) will be splitting and new ones organized ! its crazy!
"no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing!"
But Yes all is well over here ! i love guyanese food! especially seven curry! it is great! you get to eat it with your hands!
But I gotta Go!
Love you Tons!

A Visit from a Detective

Well a whole lot you could say has happened!
so well funny story is the week before i got my call to serve in canje the apartment got broken into and some stuff got tiefed. but dont worry there is a dresser in front of the broken window so he cannot get in again oh and he is also in jail. but anyways one day we got a random knock on the door by a detective who had come to get a statement from elder fauchier. so we had a nice morning a couple mornings back!
Oh and actually this sunday was something they call mash in guyana.     its like the equivalent of Carnival for the islands! sooo we had some people not come to church but it was still a good sunday, i guess we had 52 ish people there! but its awesome because in this branch you have like 5 -8 return missionaries! so the people are super solid who always come!
and well so far i have actually driven like 3 times but once was to skeldon. and yeah people are kinda crazy sometimes! i would say its not as bad as the islands.    but the thing that makes driving the most interesting i the constant need to watch for and dodge animals and potholes. and when i say animals i mean cows, donkeys, horses, dogs, pigs and any other farm animal.. haha and when i say potholes i mean huge gashes in the road haha. but no one really bothers with the potholes because they know where they are and its easy enough to drive around them. ohh and donkey carts. they dont have lights so at night driving you gotta watch for a slow moving donkey cart.. but the speed limit is 80 at the highest so not to fast we can drive anyways..

Dont tell lydia (Jeff's niece) this but i accidentally ran over a dog the other day... but i figure heaven is better for the dog than swimming and eating in nasty trenches all its life! but it was terrible i almost stopped in time.. anyways!!
This is a fun experience drivin on the left side of the road and right side of the car.

with "DL" we are slightly worried he found some anti stuff and it shook his testimony! so we are working to help him realize those things are false!
anyways!
Things are going good here! plenty good people to teach!
Over here we are working on getting a functioning branch council so the work of salvation moves on!
We  are doing a lot of training in that front which is interesting since ive never been a member of the branch council till i became a missionary haha
And oh boy i love Adam Ellingson!
He is great! tell him i say hi next time you see him!
and oh boy keep me updated on davins call!
Lets see what else to tell you!
Oh we got a call from a guy in our area he caught an alligator and i guess he likes to give the missionaries some meat whenever he catches! so we are eating alligator today for lunch! ill tell you next week how it tasted!
Anyways that was mostly it! we have a lot of cool potential missionaries here and its going to grow really fast!

All is going good!

New Companion, New Area, New Responsibilities

so this weeek has been an interesting week!

Let me start with the Good! So "TS" never ceases to amaze! he came to church today even tho it  was another conference all the way over in canje! 1:10 min drive!
but best about him was last time we went to see him we brought a young man named "KB". and "KB" is back and ready to serve. now together they decided to go every day or everyother day after 4 in the evening searching for the less actives and teach them the gospel again so that they can come back into the fold and become strong and righteous! so they know the role that the members play in the preaching of the gospel!

Anyways sad news was that on our way back to do "DL"s interview we recieved a text saying he wanted to push his date back again! so sad! but we are going to keep working with him!
so he wasnt baptised saturday gone like we thought.

Another piece of good news is i will finally get a car!
sad news after one transfer in rose hall i am being moved! I am leaving Rose hall and going to the Canje area to be a Zone Leader. its interesting leaving! i feel like i got to know these people so well but yet i feel like a was barely here!

Now once again good news! Elder Aukusitino is coming to replace me! MY first son in the wilderness is coming home!! :)
Wll rose hall is doing well tho !

WE recently startyed working with a whole ton of Part member families and they are really cool! i cannot wait to hear of the success that elder christensen and elder aukusitino have!

But yeah my new companion is Elder Fauchier!
And yeah its a safe area i am only sad because we got new bikes here saturday gone and now i wont get to use it :( haha

Whooo!  haha i got trained on how to help people gain their self reliance! ie: start their own buisness! so you could say i am now a buisness teacher!

Oh fun fact i havent been telling about for some reason! (i forgot) we have been teaching a reading class twice a week and people are learning to read by our hands! so its amazing

Ahh so much is hapening! im in a kind of car area and everything is happening so fast!
ITs amazing that all of this is just a speck of a speck to God and to our eternal timeline!
Thats is somthing that has always boggled my mind!
WE had eons and eons of time in the pre earth life to prepare for this one game of like 70-100 years and then we have forever to reap the rewards of how well we played! makes me think of the larry gelwix quote! "no regrets"

ANyways all is going good for me!

Anywho i love you a lot
