Learning From Others

This week was an alright week!

we had some transfers and i had to do some driving missionaries to georgetown to get planes! but hey thats alright haha. its tough not being able to work so hard as you want to but.

All will be well! we are excited to see how the week goes and really push for a lot of member lessons!

This week we started helping a family renovate their shop into a house to rent! so we are hoping that we cant rent there haha. they are the nicest people.
Honestly we have been fed by them every single day since wednesday and we probably will get fed again today. They are so nice and are making this appartment legit!
One of the investigators we used to teach told us that its not confirmed but its suspected they they are drug lords too... but i dont think its true!
if it is they are sophisticated mafia people and they will protect us very well. But we have gotten to do a lot of demolition of wood walls and concrete Ledges and ting! its been great!

so we are doing well. We have had a couple disapointments this week. This one made  me super sad; on saturday we passed "ZR" and i guess she just up and left after they had an argument so she is nowhere to be found  and he was just wasted. He had been Drinking clear from friday night till saturday at 2 when we met him. really sad. He was vexed .
We went by on sunday morning because in his drunked state he pleaded with us to come by in the morning and travel with him to church but his head hurt too much so he didnt come.
We are seeing him tonight! But boy i dont think i have liked a family so bad as i do them and it kills me to see alcohol and small disagreements and upset parents just tearing them apart..
I think i have learned a lot of what not to do when i am married from my mission for sure. and a lot of what to do i see come from my parents!

But something good that happened was a young woman named "JL". She is one of the most comprehensive people i have ever taught. Like when we talk about somthing she actually understands fully what it means and well just expresses her opinions and actually learns. For example when we taught he about the priesthood and the restoration she said she didnt want to pray because she knew she would have to act if God told her it was true. Most people will just say yes they will pray and then never pray at all. she was honest and after talking about how christ is coming just now she agreed to pray about it ! she just is cool! will make a great member to the church!

I always enjoy hearing about what thing are like back home .
But that is crazy to hear all about how normal missionaries are back home. I often ponder on if people see the same way as i saw missionaries back home. I really hope that for some people i am an Elder Dumke. Do you remember him! he was the greatest! one of my favourite missionaries or the one i remember the most who made the most impact on me!

being a missionary is wonderful! i definitly love it!

But i gotta go!

Guyana Elections

Well just so you know i am alright for sure!
Elections were on monday and they didnt know who won until the friday after i believe!
and even then there are a lot of accusations of cheating . things such as fake ballots being found and a couple ballot boxes found floating in the river!  But all has been decided. and the Government has changed. So that could mean we get a lot more missionaries! talking to denson he said they should apply for 200 more missionaries just now. (200 so when they say no to that they will go for 100) haha But good thing is that the church Lawyer just got put in as the Attorney general or the minister of home affairs so they should pass for more missionaries in just a few months and then its up to the church to try and get as many as they can in the country! haha so we should have more at least 4 or somthing like that before i leave! :)

But hey that is all predictions !
A  lot of people are vexed about the results. But hey they dont riot! so thats good!

But speaking of flowers i have been helping a lady named "BB" a lot in her garden and washing her house and ting! so i can  help out a lot when i get home!
I plan on being better at being helpful. A couple in our branch got married in febuary and the guy refuses to help clean or anything and cause of her always asking for help he wants a divorce .. already.. I do not intend to be that guy! so im going to be more helpful.

but anyways thing are great in guyana! its going to take a while to get settled and for things to happen but it will be well!

I heard from  a Man who is visiting Guyana From Toronto that alberta is in a bust or somthing like that. He said Everyone is selling and the housing market is crashing? is that true?

but let me see about all the wonderful things i can tell you about! well!
We got fed three times yesterday! :)
Umm WE have found even more new investigators!
we contacted a lady who had been taught previously and believed alot.. But also believes everything. Its really tought to teach  hindu's Because they really believe Anything! like Most often you will tell them about the BOFM and they will believe it  and some read it. But also believe in the guita and read that too! haha its tough. i feel bad telling them that if you believe that jesus is the saviour than all your other Gods are false.. its interesting!

But as for transfers i am staying with Elder Ort for another 5 weeks! His visa for suriname is not coming through at all!

So all will be well! Its going to be a good transfer!

Right now i am the only Zone leader because Elder Day went home to get some illness checked. But he should be back before the week is up!

But i am having fun here in Guyana!

ii am sitting in air conditioning right now and my hands are freezing! im almost shivering ! its cooling the place to 23 degrees ... haha

anyways!
Love ya!

Mother's Day

This week was really cool! we did a whole ton of work! we actually had 4 missionaries in our area this last day.. yesterday and we got 7 new investigators in one day! which is more that I got last week all week haha

But this week was still pretty great! we had little less time to work because the car broke up. the starter stopped working and funny thing is I learned how to actually fix a starter instead of just buying a new one and replacing it haha but that took a good chunk of our day which made us be down for a bit of the week! but we were still doing well!

"ZR" is doing great! he has been trying super hard to make changes and has been working on it!

We still don't know who won the election. that should get announced in a couple hours! but we are still unsure what happens!

we have been happy to see a couple families start to make progression to following Christ again!

ME and Elder ort are having some good fun!

I have officially learned how to make roti!

Today was a good day and so was the week!

I love you tons!

Mission Leadership Conference

Pickneys is a term for Children used in the carribean. Lydia and Brigham are christie and anthony's Pickney. Well literaly translated it means little Devil. but its used for kids haha. sometimes when we show people pictures of our families i tell people those are my pickney. haha no one believes me haha.
I love em as if they were!

But Hey Guyana is doing great! I dont think i will get to email you on monday coming because there will probably be some civil unrest so were going to stay in and all the shops will be closed anyways but hey i will get to talk to you on sunday! ! so im excited for that!

And Woah! elder Ort loves rugby as well so we get along !

But more impressive is the church attendance Wow i am going to come home to a crazy big ysa ward!
plenty Potential Future wife's ;)
But im not focused on that right now!

best thing for the week was to see "ISH" Get baptized! she was so excited! and it was great!
I actually gave her the Holy Ghost and Elder Ort Did the Baptism but she has such good support.
three of the Yw and one yw leader came to her baptism and it was amazing to see the support! it makes such a difference to have all that support!

We have been finding a lot of really cool people! lately
the missionary work is going well!

I didnt know derek super well, but that is still really sad. Its intersting to think of Gods plan for us and his eternal care for us! it always makes me glad to know that God will make Everything right with us. Every injustice we face in this life. God will Make up for it, if not in this life then in the next!
but yeah i will for sure keep them in my prayers!

Trinidad was a whole ton of fun! i got to sleep in the same apartment as Elder Little and Elder Hendry! (Elder Little was Jeff's MTC companion and Elder Hendry is from Lethbridge as well.) it was a blast! i am for sure going to lime and gaff with Elder Hendry when i get home!!  im glad i will get to fly home with him!

but boi seeing Elder Little was amazing! and also the MLC was a spiritual Blasting! but hey it was great!

Great! but yeah i am enjoy life in guyana! today i got myself a guyanese licence !so i am legal to drive till 2018!
Whoo!

But i love ya tons i think i told you most of the important things about my week!

Love ya tons!

8 months in

This week in the WIM(west indies mission) has been pretty alright by my standards. Its so weird being a trainer, sometimes I just feel like we get barely anything accomplished, Mainly because where most missionaries start their day is at 10 Am, we start our proselyting day at 1Pm. (He hasn't said why, but his companion is learning english so it could be for language study) But it is still one of the best things I have ever done.

This week was good as far as getting some good lessons in. We actually have been able to start teaching some past investigators again who seem pretty good. It was a blessing to have so many members who are excited about the work and who can show us to people who are ready! Member work really is the only way to go.

But as for things taught, while we were trying to teach "ST", (trying because she was cleaning and wouldnt stop :( ) Anyways we taught her children and it was really cool, because one of her Children named "CT" has met with missionaries before, and you know how missionaries work, They invited her to pray to find out if its true, and she did. But she said "she didnt get an answer till now"  so she says while we were teaching she felt it was true! So that was cool.

As for "B", He is ummmm im not sure. he had like a million questions for us when we went over again, most of them were really easy to answer, but some you could tell he had been given anti material. and then i found out where he was given that. While teaching his mom came out and started interrogating/yelling at us about Joseph Smith and How we hate black people and yeah so that was weird. But she left eventually when i offered to tell her the truth, but It didnt seem to phase "B", so hopefully he is still open to the truth.

We had a pretty cool service activity this week, We actually got to help Build a house. The second councillor in the branch presidency is adding on to his house and had a whole tonne of cement blocks that needed to be moved 40 yards down a hill to his house. So we did just that. Each block weighs probably like 30-40 pounds and i started carrying like 2 at a time. Eventually we formed a chain so we didn't have to carry them as far but  it was good tough work. My hands have gotten soft since ive been on my mission haha I got a blister. Anyways it was fun. We have been helping him quite a bit and it is cool to see the progression he makes. But he reminds me a lot of dad. He told me he has all the plans for the house in his head he just needs to get them out while building. Its fun tho!

Anyways i love you!
have a fantastic week!

Missionary work is fun

I am doing fantastic! Life is pretty fun and i am learning how to speak some samoan :) haha

A lavalava

It honestly feels like I just opened that call maybe 3 months ago! i honestly have never felt time moving as fast as it does out here.
But yeah things are going  well!

Unfortunatly "ST" did not come to church this week and we went to teach her but she was super busy. so instead we did some service for her. Elder Aukusitino climbed to the top of her coconut tree and picked all of the coconuts. so she was happy. it was too tall for anyone in her family to get them.

But she actually invited us over tonight, she is going to feed us and we are going to Share a message,Probably about the Book of Mormon. And the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She is awesome and i have really high hopes that once she hears about additional Scripture she will cling too it.and love it alot. so we hope tonight will be a major turning point in our teaching her.

Another Great thing we had was we met a guy named "B". He is pretty cool. Missionaries passed by and gave him a tract 3 years ago and never came back! so I guess they planted a seed for us to harvest. However I kinda panicked and the lesson went kind of sloppy, not as good as I wished. but by the End I felt Like i just needed to share another How to begin teaching point from PMG and told hime we arent perfect teachers but we know what we share to be true. Then I bore my testimony to him about the restoration,Jesus Christ and The Prophets. And invited him to read and pray about The Message we share. He could feel The spirit im sure and he gave a very solemn "Yes, Yes i will Pray about this" So he is cool and I think he will progress.

Anyways its so cool to hear about the Rugby going on back home. i miss it quite bad. we actually got to play a game last p-day out in a field by the airport. and the ball went over the fence :( But a firetruck in the airport saw us waiving for it and he came and got the ball for us :)

The Two boys are still doing well, I found out one wasnt baptized because his father said no Before and the other is told he isnt ready for baptism. but we still work with them!

"K" is doing really good. We actually havent got to see her very often, she keeps going places but she is always In   church on sunday sitting with sister adams! so its going real well.

Being a missionary is probably one of the most fun things i have ever done, I Love it!

But i hope you have a great week

Happy Mothers Day

So i think mothers day is my new favourite holiday! it was so fun to talk to you all!

I really enjoyed the multi skype call thing ! lots of fun!  but Things here are still Great!

Elder AUKUSITINO   is really cool! he is from samoa and learned english in school for 10 years, but he told me he always escaped from classes by going to the bathroom and stuff haha. so he has some really good english skill when talking to me, just some words he doesn't know yet. But The people here speak so ridiculous that its hard to learn out on the streets. But By the End of This
transfer he will be doing amazing i believe!

This week has been a pretty good week. to answer your question we did see "ST", it was hard to talk with her because her kids were watching harry potter right near by. but it went alright. once we lost the focus i just ended the lesson and commited her to read the rest of the plan of salvation tract. But it is going well with her. She said she will come to church next week. so this Sunday! Whoo. Hopefully she can bring in her whole family as well!

I also found out that two member families we go and visit every now and then; each have a 10/11 year old son who comes to church all the time but isnt baptized because "he doesnt take church seriously enough yet." so we are going to start working with those boys to help them find a love for going to church classes!  so This should be a really fun week. WE are trying to get a lot more member work!

Its hard in this area becuase everyone knows who we are and almost everyone has hear an anti story. so either that is good or bad. Either people want to know if its true or they assume it is and shun/run away when we show up! so that sucks! but What can you do other than love the people right? But Once you get the in from a member, teaching is so much easier!

But i love the work here and it feels like i am still brand new out here, time is honestly flying by!

But i love you And i will Enjoy my P-day!

Staying in St Vincent

Its great to hear about the Wedding! The Pictures look amazing! The Church looked so cool! Especially all The Painted Furniture!

Oh so this Transfer! Ready for my Transfer call? Here it is! Elder Pierson is Staying in St.Vincent II and is training a Polynesian Named Elder Aukusitinio. So this will be a fun transfer i do believe! You should tell brad he should remind me what all the poly words i know mean  again so i do not terribly offend my new companion haha.

Anyways This week was a pretty good week! we have been working pretty hard! and getting things done. "K" is doing really well! There are actually a lot of yw activities every now and then and i guess she goes to all! So she has been making lots of friends here and loves the Gospel!
We actually went over to her house yesterday to find that she wasn't there! she was up visiting a member, so we talked just a bit with her family. We brought her a picture of a temple so that she could always remember what her final goal is. but fun event of yesterday was that while visiting with the family and dropping off the picture we found out that they were trying to get some coconut out of the tree and no one could get it, So me your monkey of a son had a chance to do some service and climb 2 trees and get the family coconuts. so that was fun!

Anyways Other than that the other cool Things that happened was meeting someone that the Birds the sr couple contacted!

"ST" was her name. She was really nice and pretty excited to meet with us . She loves to sing and is actually a really good singer. We showed her some Motab on her phone and she just kept listening to song after song! We actually werent the first missionaries that went to visit this family, about 2 years ago they were getting visits. But she has a family of 9 i believe and she is very religious. Cool Thing is sometimes i feel like all The efforts i have done in the past turn to not much or just left a seed planted with people. but i never really think about what will happen some years down the road what will happen. But now i am seeing first hand a seed that was planted and is now ready or almost ready for be harvested!
Its amazing how sometimes people just need to hear the gospel once and then have some time!

Anyways, I love you!
